Nervous System Rest - Without Effort

Acoustic dry float therapy using sound resonance and warm water.

Fully clothed. No preparation.

Just stillness, sound, and the quiet return to yourself.

Dry float therapy is one of the most gentle, accessible, and profoundly restful therapies we offer. It asks nothing of you - simply lie fully clothed, and allow your body to find its way back to calm.

What is Dry Float Therapy?

Where sound meets the body's own wisdom

Dry float therapy is a gentle, non-invasive treatment that gives you all the deep rest of traditional float therapy - without water, without a pod, and without any preparation at all. You stay fully clothed throughout.

At the Centre for Holistic Living, we offer dry float therapy using the Entle Bed - the world's first acoustic dry floating system, developed by Australian naturopath Thomas Staudacher. What makes this different from other dry float beds is the addition of precisely encoded acoustic sound resonance: as you rest on the warm water membrane, sound waves move through the water and into your tissues, reaching muscles, bones, and your nervous system with soft, rhythmic vibration.

Within minutes, the mind tends to quiet, the breath slows, and something in the nervous system simply... exhales. Many people describe it as floating between wakefulness and rest - a threshold state that most of us rarely find in ordinary life.

It is a profoundly simple invitation to rest. And your body already knows how.

How it works

How dry float therapy works on the body

Acoustic resonance

Structured vibrational patterns are delivered through a warm water membrane beneath you. Sound waves move through tissue, reaching muscles, organs, and your skeletal system - gently and without force.

Nervous system support

As vibration travels through the body's natural pathways, your parasympathetic nervous system - the "rest and digest" state - begins to re-engage. Stress hormones lower. The body remembers how to feel safe.

Weightless restoration

Floating on the water membrane removes the constant pull of gravity from joints, muscles, and the spine. Physical tension releases. The mind, no longer bracing, finds space to settle.
Benefits

What dry float therapy supports

Every body is different, and every session is its own experience. That said, many clients report a consistent range of shifts - often felt from the very first session.

  • Nervous system regulation: A noticeable shift from the fight-or-flight state toward calm, grounded presence.
  • Stress and anxiety relief: Overactive thoughts quieten as the body moves out of a state of overwhelm.
  • Improved sleep: Many clients notice deeper, more restorative sleep in the nights following a session.
  • Muscle tension release: The combination of weightlessness and vibration gently eases held tension in the body.
  • Emotional clarity: A sense of greater ease, perspective, and emotional groundedness after sessions.
  • Deeper body awareness: Supports reconnection with bodily sensation - particularly valuable alongside somatic therapy.
  • Recovery and restoration: Supports the body's natural recovery processes - from physical fatigue, burnout, or chronic stress.
  • Energetic balance: Many clients describe a sense of inner harmony, coherence, and restored vitality.

Before you arrive

1What is dry float therapy - and how is it different from regular float tanks?
Traditional float therapy involves lying in a pod or tank filled with Epsom salt water. Dry float therapy gives you the same sense of weightlessness and deep rest - but you stay completely dry and fully clothed throughout. At CFHL, we use the Entle Bed, which adds acoustic sound resonance delivered through the water membrane for an extra layer of nervous system support.
2Do I need to take my clothes off?
No - you remain fully clothed throughout. Loose, comfortable clothing is recommended. There is no water contact at all.

What people experience...

I didn't know what to expect but I came out feeling like something had quietly shifted. Lighter. Clearer. My sleep that night was the deepest it's been in months.

I've been managing chronic back pain for years. After three sessions the pain is noticeably less. I also feel less anxious generally, which I wasn't expecting at all.

  • My mind would usually work in overdrive, constantly. So knowing that it is possible for me to feel present and calm is a great feeling. Elle was very approachable and easy to talk to. I valued the flexibility of the work, nothing felt forced, and I got a sense of achievement - Elle is very encouraging.

  • I appreciate the non-judgemental, supportive environment you create in our sessions. I feel that you create the space for me to learn about myself, rather than imposing limitations because the sessions are heavily structured or designed to lead me down a certain path. Your personal warmth and sense of calm have helped me to feel comfortable discussing things that I haven't shared with anyone before.

  • I didn't expect to feel such a clear shift so immediately afterwards.

  • I have extended what I thought I could do since the beginning of our coaching sessions. Elle's sessions were spacious and allowed ideas to come forward in their own time. She is highly supportive with regular feedback, without judgment on content. I found Elle's energy to be gentle and sensitive, and totally present. In our sessions I valued the encouragement to explore in my own way. The support to fossick in my own space for ideas, thoughts, and gems of insight. I've been able to embrace a new project which I do not think I would have felt so comfortable to approach at the moment, without the support of our sessions.

Our work has been really huge for me and helped with so many elements of my headspace and made my spirit feel a lot lighter.

  • After my first session I noticed a major shift in my physical health and mental health. I made time for myself instead of worrying about "getting things done" before work each morning. My sleep improved immensely and I felt significantly calmer in situations I previously could not handle. Right away, I started feeling more open in my body... I feel like something clicked, and it's stayed that way! I feel like I was able to reconnect with a part of myself that had been forgotten. I valued the depth, openness and connection in our sessions, and the sense of safety and that all is welcome.

My relationship with my partner has strengthened. I've learned that I can be calm, relaxed and present - this was a big thing for me.

  • As the weeks have gone by I have come to realise how integral my sessions with you are to my growth and to my peace of mind and sanity!! :) I genuinely believe that the hour I spend with you at the end of each week has had a profound impact on my life. I get clarity, reassurance, a sense of hope and possibility when I'm feeling low and the guidance and support that is lacking from my life at the moment. I believe my journey to happiness and peace would be much longer and harder without the support I get from our sessions.

  • Since we started energetic healing sessions, my body feels alive and vibrant, my mind is steadier & I'm relaxed and happy. The experience went beyond my expectations. Thanks Elle. You have genuinely helped me. Your generosity in sharing your energy is something I have never experienced before.

  • I felt calmer after Elle's sessions and less worried. Elle is a most caring woman, she doesn't just do healing work but cares about you as a human being. I could always tell Elle was concerned for my wellbeing and listened to my worries and fears. I am grateful for the months she treated me.

What dry float therapy is - and isn't

The nervous system, given the right environment, knows how to move toward regulation. The Entle Bed creates that environment. For those who appreciate clarity, it feels worth saying this plainly. This therapy is not a medical treatment. It is not diagnostic. It does not claim to correct, fix, or cure anything. It does not force change, stimulate the body, or override its natural processes. What it does - gently, consistently, and without effort on your part - is support the conditions in which the body may begin to settle.

The session unfolds

Sessions run for 60 minutes. As the acoustic sound programmes begin, many people notice the mind softening within the first few minutes. Some drift into a light meditative state; others remain gently aware throughout. Both are completely natural.

Integration and reflection

After the session, we allow time to ground and reorient before you leave. This is an important part of the process - giving the body time to integrate what it has experienced. Many clients report feeling noticeably calmer, clearer, and more embodied in the hours and days that follow.
